The Nest

The River Wye or Afon Gwy is the UK’s fourth longest river. It disects England and Wales as it runs south out of the Welsh mountains and into the Severn estuary. The southern stretch known as the Wye Valley National Landscape is so beautiful that it brought about the birth of British tourism in the 18th century. Part of the river is famous for its sport fishing, where the gentry came in their spades in the early 20th century to try their hand at catching labrador-sized salmon. These two drone images show the private fishing lodge, the Nyth (Welsh for “Nest”), which occupies the best spot on the river, set amidst the valley in all its autumn glory.
